India and EU's Onerous AI Policies, Face to Emojis, and Building a One-Man AI Business
As well as a handful of useful tools around the internet.
Morning y’all!
It’s been a good week of productivity and learning — the best type of week! Someone asked me at lunch yesterday what I thought made me “successful” in the work that I do and I knew immediately the answer: Curiosity.
It’s what drives me to try new things and allows me to put aside my preconceived notions about what is possible and what is not and gives me the fortitude to press through the tough parts of learning anything new. Consequently, these things help me succeed, whether it’s personal or professional work. So, stay curious! That’s the only way that you’ll win, whatever that is that you’re trying to accomplish.
Today I’ve got a list of a few apps and industry news that I’ve been test-driving and I’d love to know your thoughts! Have a great weekend friends!

There have been a number of crackdowns on AI and two recently are interesting: India has gone hardcore mode and essentially making it impossible to implement artificial intelligence in every reasonable way while the EU has a more location-specific stance. But it’s definitely had a chilling effect on folks:
I was such a fool thinking I will work bringing GenAI to Indian agriculture from SF,” wrote Pratik Desai, founder of startup Kisan AI. “We were training multimodal low cost pest and disease model, and so excited about it. This is terrible and demotivating after working 4yrs full time brining AI to this domain in India.
Good luck to regulating your (future) economy out of window.
Ben is a perennial entrepreneur and builder and shares his workflows on how to build a startup from scratch using AI tools. I sat through the hour+ long video and it was fun to see his decision making as well as execution:
Enjoy that! I know I did.
Create emojis of yourself. Yes, that’s about it. I’ve mentioned Replicate before but they are continuing to pump out fun features that get people talking. There are options for a handful of types:
It does a really good job of keeping the fundamental face though. Impressed. A few more outputs of myself at a beach (instead of a post-apocalyptic setting like above):
Not terrible. Not terrible at all.
Build a website with just a few prompts? Why not. They are telling you can launch a business but that’s not really true as it’s really just a website. But, you take it from there and maybe you can build that business you’ve always wanted.
Sell stuff faster with AI by just using your camera. I gave this a try and it wasn’t entirely accurate with the first batch but I didn’t have problems with more typical products lying around my home.
What about a powerful AI calendar assistant that simplifies scheduling by converting voice, text, and images into organized plans? Go ahead and give it a try if this is something you want or need. You can sync with Google or Apple calendars.
Quickly scan your existing website to create a marketing plan. Fun.
Translation for 29+ languages. Boom. I like the branding of “Hello8” considering the 8 billion viewers. Clever girl.
And that’s a wrap! Have a great weekend folks!
