GitHub Copilot Best Practices, Jon Stewart, Stable Audio 2, and Lots of Music
Industry news and tools that will make you think.
Morning y’all!
It’s Thursday! And we’ve got one more day until Friday and then you can take a look back at the week and what you’ve gotten done and feel great about it.
At least that’s what I plan on doing. \( ゚ヮ゚)/
Oh. Random. Got my first DM for a sponsorship of this newsletter. I don’t have any plans on doing that but it was a fun thing to see pop up. Whatever! Have a good one!

Straight from the GitHub blog, here are some useful tips on how to best use GitHub Copilot which can improve your development workflows and speed. There’s even an inline chat capability too.
LLocalSearch is also pretty cool:
This is a completely locally running meta search engine using LLM Agents. The user can ask a question and the system will use a chain of LLMs to find the answer. The user can see the progress of the agents and the final answer. No OpenAI or Google API keys are needed.
Not needing external APIs is a good thing and is useful for testing and doing experiments. Really appreciate open source so much.
Jon Stewart finds the time to talk through trust and uses some classic techniques to create anxiety and fear around AI. Even though I disagreed with most of this I have always found Stewart to be entertaining. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
On the same lines as Jon Stewart, folks are already talking about how this bubble will burst, especially around GenAI. While it’s true that most companies won’t make it that’s not the point as this is the cycle of venture capital, entrepreneurship, and trying to build a bridge between the old ways of doing things and new. In short, this is as-expected so anyone who’s lived long enough will be comfortable with the setup.
Precisely what it states in the picture above. If you have time and want more things to read then this post isn’t terrible.
If you’re trying to build a brand through thought leadership then this app might be useful. I’m not a fan of LinkedIn but I know that a lot of people are.
For you sales people in the reading audience, this app can use one video and personalize them via AI. Talk about saving time!
Stability AI is continuing their work on Stable Audio with version 2. Now you can create high-quality songs with up to 3 minutes with a coherent structure from a single text prompt. Sounds absolutely magical. You can even upload your own audio as a baseline with sound effects.
On the topic of music, why not use AI to help be your music manager? If you’re a music enthusiast and trying to build your career, this might be a useful tool to check out.
Homescore is an AI tool for home buying. It’s got some neat visualizations and bills itself as “CarFax” for your home buying experience. I’m not in the market for a new house but if I was I’d be using all types of services like these to help me understand what I’m getting myself into (again).
A 4-day work week? That’s what Steve Cohen, a billionaire investor, says about AI and how it’ll increase leisure time and decreased productivity on Fridays. I think I’ve heard this one before.
Palmer Luckey is a controversial figure but there’s no question that he’s changing things and this article gives a good background on how. And yes, I got a non-paywall link for you there.
Artists are upset:
Hundreds of artists including legendary musicians Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello and the estates of Bob Marley and Frank Sinatra on Tuesday signed an open letter from the Artist Rights Alliance calling on the developers of artificial intelligence technologies to stop training copycat programs and using AI-produced sounds to “dilute the royalty pools” paid to artists for their work.
I think the best artists are embracing this new technology instead of trying to stop it. Sure, it’s all about money but the ones who use it will get way ahead of the rest and — wait for it — make more money.
A neat and practical introduction to AI for developers! Learn a thing or two and see what you can start building.
An insane market map for machine learning, AI, and data. I won’t lie, this is borderline useless but it is fun to see how many apps are in the space (and growing everyday).
And that’s it my friends! Have a great one!
