FKA Twigs Deepfakes Herself, Ukraine's AI Spokesperson, @Gemini in Chrome
And a few tools and other AI news.
Morning y’all!
I’m jet lagged badly so I’m typing this from my bed where my body and mind thinks it’s about 3:00am in the morning. Ugh!
But, I’d rather be here than most places and I like my pillow in particular. 🥰
Have a great Thursday and the 2nd day of May! How did we get here so fast?

Well, this is interesting: Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs just introduced ‘Victoriya Shi’, an AI-generated avatar, as the department’s digital spokesperson, modeled after a singer and TV personality.
Oh. I see.
Google has shared that you can now use a new shortcut in Chrome that allows you to quickly use Gemini! Nice trick for sure. Just type `gemini` followed by the prompt in Chrome’s desktop address bar and there you go.
Midjourney’s new parameter feature called --sref random lets users generate images in completely random styles to help spark creativity. You will need a paid subscription for this to work though. Kind of neat output. Get in Discord and try it out.
Use AI to learn languages. A few neat features too and the notifications that you know “more” than a friend must be fun and slightly infuriating.
AI-powered knowledge base for customer support needs.
AI-centric mood board? I’ve never really found a use for these types of creative ideation tools but maybe you do.
Semantic storage via OneNode allows you to save pretty much anything in a way a language model can understand.
I’ve found Loom useful on and off but never consistently. But, I’m always keen on trying any of their updates, especially if they’re AI-driven.
How AI is unlocking the secrets of nature and the universe:
Can AI help us answer life's biggest questions? In this visionary conversation, Google DeepMind cofounder and CEO Demis Hassabis delves into the history and incredible capabilities of AI with head of TED Chris Anderson.
Hassabis explains how AI models like AlphaFold — which accurately predicted the shapes of all 200 million proteins known to science in under a year — have already accelerated scientific discovery in ways that will benefit humanity. Next up? Hassabis says AI has the potential to unlock the greatest mysteries surrounding our minds, bodies and the universe.
Very neat to put on the background.
Microsoft produced it’s first “Responsible AI” report. Key takeaways here:
Not the most interesting read but I’m capturing it here for any future (personal) use.
The AI Humane pin was a total fail. Some thoughts and the conclusion to this person’s hot take:
Marketers deploying AI activations and products can help themselves demonstrate specificity by leveraging thought leaders and influencers, who can explain functions clearly while reaching a wider audience. Perhaps more than a brand, these messengers grasp what is effective when communicating about technology and what is best left unsaid.
Oh:
The British singer, dancer and actress told a US Senate Judiciary subcommittee on Tuesday that celebrities and artists should have control over how their voices, looks and personalities are used by AI.
"In the past year, I have developed my own deepfake version of myself that is not only trained in my personality but that also can use my exact tone of voice to speak many languages," she said.
Pretty entrepreneurial and not actually a new idea. I see this catching on.
And that’s it. Have a great one folks!
