Zuckerberg's Quest, Canva > Photoshop, and Bing's New GenAI Search
A few links and industry news and tools you can use!
Morning y’all!
I hope Thursday is treating you well! I’ve got some medical appointments this morning and so I’ll be stuck in a waiting room thinking about all of you and this newsletter.
To start, Mark is headed out in what seems to be a social media / PR tour and hitting up waves and interviews everywhere. Here’s one about his “quest” sotospeak:
Wow. Canva is really taking over! Here are 10 ways in which Canva is taking over the image creation industry (and putting Adobe out of a job).
I have used Canva for so many projects at this point but the problem is that everything seems to be looking the same; that’s not good.
The market around AI is quickly becoming commoditized and I really like the perspective above about building simple yet compelling products that focus on that “one” thing (and doing it really well). AI companies could use a reminder.
While we’re on focus, I was reminded of Apple’s relentless focus on doing things with excellence and it includes their marketing philosophy:
Great (artificial intelligence and machine learning) products would do well to learn from Apple and Steve’s relentless focus on serving their customers (and doing it better than anyone else).
Escape curates and distributes radical new forms of entertainment, pushing the envelope of AI and Game Technology for storytelling, experience, and art.
Discover some really cool shows and videos! Pretty entertaining, to be sure.
Auphonic is a post-production audo service to enhance your recordings.
Five U.S. Senators sent a letter to Sam Altman and OpenAI asking for more details on their developing safety protocols. That should be fun.
Big tech is being quickly commoditized and as a weapon to keep away the smaller, younger startups who are looking to disrupt.
Kling, a Chinese-centric AI video model is now out and it’s really impressive. Unlike OpenAI’s Sora, which is presently unreleased, this could be a real contender.
Bing is testing a new generative search experience that combines traditional results with AI-generated content.
And Microsoft is also building AI models for medical imaging to enhance radiologists efficiency and patient outcomes.
Gendo is a browser-based platform that enables architecture designers to generate stunning CGI quickly, revolutionizing the design process.
Oh! Apparently Apple is testing out a web-based version of their map. A real contender for Google Maps? That’s interesting.
Have a good one friends!
