Andromeda and Psychological Warfare, Starbucks with Just Bots, AI Schools
Tools and news from the AI world.
Hey y’all!
I’m working through my backlog but I’m on-track and I’m grateful for a bit of a long rest and reprieve from a number of social events that really kicked my ass.
As I get older I realize that I’m less interested in spending time in large social gatherings and much more inclined to small, private, one-on-one’s or just a handful. But not for too long, of course.
Have a good one!

Andromeda, a new AI startup based out of Austin, TX is building a platform to help manage psychological warfare for the United States. They combine LLMs and knowledge graphs that reduce bias in outcomes. Cool.
Studies are showing these things called “zero clicks” and it’s starting to impact results and folks money. Google is giving folks who search for the things the direct answers themselves. But what happens when AI steps in?
Glue in pizza? I mean, you gotta break some eggs to make an omelette, right?
This is via Alex and it’s a Starbucks that’s being run but 100 bots and 2 humans. Is this the future that we wanted? I don’t see why not!
I LOL’d when I first saw this headline because I could have bet that this would happen — except not this fast. What a fail.
This is behind a paywall but apparently Meta is working on paid versions of their AI assistants which would compete with the other big players in the space.
If you’d like to read more then here’s your click, bruh.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai on AI-powered search and the future of the web. Here’s your summary:
Google CEO Sundar Pichai discusses the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the future of the web during a YouTube video interview. He acknowledges the advancements in language models and AI but believes there is more to human intelligence than language alone.
Google is working to make search more multimodal, allowing it to process various forms of content, including audio, video, text, images, and code. Pichai expresses optimism about the web's future, emphasizing the importance of high-quality content and the symbiotic relationship between search engines and content creators. He addresses concerns about the impact of AI on small content creators and the potential negative effects on traffic.
Despite these concerns, Pichai remains optimistic about how the transition to AI will play out, believing that it will provide context and increase engagement. He also addresses concerns about Google's use of data for AI search and the emotional reaction from the creative community, promising to continue working on solutions to address these concerns.
Pichai sees the web five years from now as more multimodal, richer, and interactive, with ongoing efforts to address challenges like factuality and "hallucination" in AI technology.
I haven’t been super bullish on Pichai since I think he’s failed to stop the rise of Microsoft (again). But it was interesting to hear his thoughts on these high-levels.
GPT-4o’s Chinese token-training data is polluted by spam and porn websites? Oh. Allegedly. I mean, I don’t really trust a lot of these state-specific announcements since disinformation is everywhere on these types of things.
Gemini whitepaper and report on multimodal tech. I won’t lie, I didn’t get all the way through it but if you do then lmk how it is and what I’ve missed.
AI-powered school in Austin. It’s a private school but I can imagine AI eventually hitting everyone, everywhere. And that’s a good thing.
Opera browser has integrated Google's Gemini AI models into its Aria AI extension, providing more up-to-date information and conversational responses.
Hosted versions make so much sense. I wonder what the margins are. Or, you could do it yourself.
Infinite chill beats while you work!
This tool breaks down complex documents for you using AI. Or something like that.
Finally, a video creation tool using AI for small businesses and the like.
